Course Overview
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has taken action to strengthen their non-financial misconduct rules and enhance their ability to take action against individuals in sexual harassment cases. On 1st September 2026, a new FCA rule comes into effect (CP25/18) that amends the Code of Conduct (COCON) to clarify that non-financial misconduct, such as sexual harassment, can fall within the scope of conduct rules for non-bank firms. The introduction of this rule aligns non-bank firms with the non-financial misconduct rules that currently only apply to banks.
This interactive workshop provides a clear, practical understanding of sexual harassment and how to recognise, report, and respond to it, in line with current legislation and best practices within the Financial Services Industry.
Sexual harassment has no place in the workplace, yet it remains a widespread and damaging issue. Beyond the harm to individuals, it undermines team cohesion, erodes trust in leadership and damages an organisation’s reputation.
Preventing workplace sexual harassment within financial services is therefore crucial to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all. A safe workplace directly boosts employee morale, productivity and retention. Every individual, regardless of seniority, has a responsibility to understand boundaries and to refrain from inappropriate behaviour. Training ensures that staff not only recognise unacceptable conduct but also feel confident in addressing concerns and supporting colleagues.
Since October 2024, every UK employer has been subject to a statutory duty to take ‘reasonable steps’ to prevent sexual harassment. Providing comprehensive, up-to-date training to all staff is essential in demonstrating compliance with this duty as well as reinforcing a culture of respect, trust and support.
This training is not a tick-box exercise; it is a strategic investment in the wellbeing, reputation and long-term success of your organisation.
