In recent months we have seen a renewed focus on cyber resilience following high-profile cyber incidents affecting several major UK brands. At the same time, governments are accelerating commitments to the energy transition with national green energy plans beginning to move from policy ambition to practical delivery.
Momentum in renewable energy continues with solar and wind expanding their share of global electricity generation, while investment in Artificial Intelligence (AI) remains strong as businesses increasingly adopt AI-driven technologies to improve productivity and learning.
Geopolitics also continues to play a significant role in shaping market sentiment. At the time of publishing, escalating tensions between the United States and Iran have added fresh volatility to global markets, particularly within energy and commodities, while raising serious concerns around the disruptions to key trade routes in the Middle East.
Alongside this, evolving policy direction and tariffs from President Trump’s administration continue to create uncertainty for global markets, posing ongoing challenges for strategic planning across the industry.
Against this backdrop, financial services firms must continue to demonstrate agility and resilience as they navigate economic, technological and geopolitical change in the months ahead. The three articles in this edition are quite different. As our regular readers will know, we like to bring a bit of variation. The first article explores Greenwashing, the regulation, challenges and how we can transition to a sustainable future. The second looks at AI in Financial Services and examines what the hype means in practice for financial services professionals, their firms and the people they serve. Finally, we review DORA and the UK operational resilience regime, helping you to build enough understanding to make informed decisions about where to invest your time, budget and governance attention.
